Tutorial - How to Make Felted Balls

This morning I read a blog on “How to Make Felted Balls”.

While it looked interesting the picture they showed with the tutorial was corgis on a mobile.

I thought making the corgis in needle felt would be interesting, but possibly the balls on their own, not so much.

This afternoon I drove out to see my wholesaler. While we were chatting Cheryl said “These just came in … are you interested?” Yay! So now I can blog about felted balls and felted dogs. Yes Please … so we now have 2 of these wonderful dimensions kits in the store.

Dog Felted Character Needle Felting Kit

Tips

Re-use your moulds and stencils to make other needle felting characters in your choice of wool colours—try a wolf or other kind of dog by adjusting the features or how much wool is used. You will need about 17 grams total.

• Before starting to work, divide the roving as needed to ensure having enough to complete all the parts. For example, you will need separate amounts of white for each side of the body, the belly stuffing, the tail, and a little extra for general sculpting.

• The basic body is made with the white wool with the brown wool used to add the spots over it. Take your time and be sure the dog's basic white body is completely sculpted to your liking before adding the brown roving.

• To help your dog stand squarely, needle the bottoms of the feet until they are firm and flat.
